Modest Mouse Performs 2 new songs at Sasquatch Music Festival
Jun 2011 02

Yup! The band’s set included many old favorites like Dramamine, I Came as a Rat and of course Cowboy Dan, but it is the  two new tracks, Lampshade on Fire and Poison, that really peaked my interest. With their past couple of albums, Modest Mouse has lost a bit of that old sonic sting. Reports say they have been working with Outkast’s Big Boi to produce their next album, offering the possibility of an entirely new direction beyond the softer super-produced songs of late. Lampshade on Fire doesn’t get me too excited, sounding like yet another lost tune from We Were Dead Before This Ship Even Sank. But Poison offers a tiny sliver of throwback to the fast, loud, and aggressive side we haven’t seen in a while. Listen to the new tracks at Stereogum or download the entire show at NPR Music.

The Format | Swans (Studio Recording)
Oct 2011 21

Remember your favorite dismembered band, The Format? Remember that time you searched all over the internet in vain for a version of their song Swans that wasn’t a live recording or rip from that awful movie, Moving McAllister?

REDEMPTION!
This appears to be the same studio recording used at the end of Moving McAllister, now without dips in audio and people talking all over it! I don’t know it originated from, but I’m so have finally found it. (originally posted on Mellow Ds Tumblr)
